"DIY Whipped Shea Body Butter: The Perfect Homemade Gift for Mom"

Before we start with the recipe some things to consider. Any dishes you use to whip up your shea body butter should ONLY be used for this from now on.

Please don't use kitchen dishes to make your body butters then wash and prep your food out of them. While our products are safe and non-toxic. No one wants to experience a mouth full of oils and butter.

NOT FUN.

This is such a fun recipe.

Plus this gives you complete control of your butter. There's just something about making it with your hands that does not compare to anything else.

Without further ado. Here is the recipe for you.

We recommend using raw, unrefined, grade-A shea butter. But of course, you can use whichever butter you prefer. You can use Shea Butter Mango Butter, or Cocum Butter. Whichever butter your body desires.

We tend to stay away from body oils in our butter and opt for essential oils to prevent skin irritation. This is something for you to consider.

This will make 1-2 butter depending on how long you whip your butter and what size jar you use.

Ingredients

1) 6 oz butter

2) 1.5 tbsp carrier oil

3) 1.5 tsp arrowroot powder

4) essential oils to your preference. About 1 Tbsp total of oil should be enough.

Shea Butter being Whipped
What Your Shea Butter Will Look Like As Its being Whipped.

First, you want to take your raw shea butter and put it into an industrial mixer. Or a conventional mixer. We do not melt our body butter. Melting not only affects the quality of the product, we noticed it affects shelf life as well.

As it’s mixing add in your carrier oil. We love jojoba oil. You can opt for jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, or sunflower seed oil if you prefer.

Leave your shea to whip for about 30 to 45 minutes or until you reach your preferred consistency. We like to aim for a fluffy, smooth, soft butter-like consistency.

Once you reach your preferred consistency. Add the arrowroot powder and the essential oils. Mix one more time to bring it all together.

Now you want to package your butter in a glass, preferably an amber jar to keep light and heat away from your butter.

That's it! We hope you enjoy the process of making these amazing fluffy butters as much as we do. After many years of trial and error, we have come up with this way of making our butters and hope you like it as well.
