Does Body and Skin Care Expire?!

The short answer is YES.

But so much comes packed into this one question that it is hard to give a direct answer.

General rule of thumb is to keep a close eye on these products and if you notice any sign of expiration it is best to throw them out and replace it.

Unfortunately not everything will last forever. Including the very expensive products you buy. Price really has nothing to do with it. Products expire when they expire.

What matters is where you store it. How much light is it getting? is it hot? is there a lot of moisture? Has there been accidental contamination while layering products? Have you ever left the products open for prolonged periods of time?

Sure packaging can play a role in preserving all of these products but the true test starts once you open it.

Every product has its advantage and disadvantage when it comes to expiring. Some products are prone to bacterial growth. Specially things that are water based. And oils tend to oxidize as times goes on.

What about products with natural ingredients?

Natural ingredients and products will suffer from quality defects more often if not formulated with the proper preservatives and antioxidants. these products can expire sooner than some with synthetic ingredients.

How can you tell if they are bad?

Easy to spot ways are big changes to the texture of the product. Sometimes it just doesn't feel the same. There can also be changes in the smell of the product. And of course if the color has changed. Chances are its gone bad.

It is a good idea to take inventory of our products every now and again so we can ensure that we are not using spoiled products. As a rule of thumb if you do not know how old something is throw it away and replace it.

Better safe than sorry.
