Body Cream, Body Lotion and Body Butter

Cream, Lotion and Butter.

This is long overdue for us I feel like. And it's right up our alley. After so many years of research you start to see they subtle key differences in these things. Sometimes the smallest of changes can make the biggest difference .

Alright anyways let's get to the meat of it. What are the differences and why should you care. Because that's what you came here for. Here it is . The difference between these 3 products is their consistency, the level of hydration they will provide you and the oil to water ratio they contain. Sounds pretty easy. Easy is not always simple.

Body Lotions

Body lotions are the most common moisturizer anyone here knows. Lotions have the lightest consistency out of these 3. Fun fact they also have the highest water content. Which in turn as you will have guessed a high water content means you have minimal oils working for you. Can't mix oil and water now. I've tried.

Knowing this why would you use a lotion? Well lotions are great for anyone with normal to dry skin. Someone looking for a moisturizer that absorbs quickly and is ideal for the summer time. That's usually where lotions shine.

Body Creams

Creams go in the middle here. Appropriately. They have a sort of medium thickness out of these 3. With a medium thickness comes a more balanced water to oil ratio within and creams usually contain a 50/50 ratio.

With this ratio this is more hydrating than lotion. It has more oils. Which your skin needs. Plus creams do tend to provide a sort of protective skin barrier. Thicker is better.

Creams are suitable for normal to dry skin and recommended for the winter months.

Body butter

Now we get to the thickest of the 3. If you've messed with body butter at all before you know and are familiar with that thick consistency. Body butter has the lowest water content. And in turn the highest oil concentration. Makes sense. Less water more oil.

Body butter is best used for extremely dry or rough skin due to its most intense moisturizer ion abilities. This creates a protecting and healing moisture barrier your skin desperately needs.

Butter is ideal for winter months and to use as a targeted treatment for those really stubborn areas. You know like your feet. Elbows. Knees.

Well there you have it. Which moisturizer to use will come down to you and what you are looking to obtain from the results. Use this as a basic guide to know when to use which products.
